HGV Class 1 Driver (Bulk Tipping/Tramping)
Due to growth within our business we are looking for an Enthusiastic, positive, confident, committed driver with Bulk Tipping experience. Happy working under pressure in a busy team environment
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
To operate an HGV vehicle & Trailer in a safe and professional manner, delivering products to customers providing an excellent customer service
RELATIONSHIPS:
a) Responsible to: Transport Manager
Needs to have strong communication skills, a willingness to take instruction, be cooperative & flexible & be confident enough to ask for help where needed.
A driver with good working knowledge of southeast road networks, happy to work in & out of London as required.
Will be required to Night Out and should be prepared to be away from home for up to 4 nights per week potentially
The role will include spending nights out as required

MAIN TASKS OF JOB
· Operate a Class One HGV Artic Bulk Tipper, in a safe & professional, timely manner, delivering Aggregate product to our customers, providing an excellent customer service.
· Safe vehicle loading & unloading/tipping of multiple aggregate & waste products, adhere to all tipping procedures, standards & site requirements for safety as detailed in the company driver handbook.
· Supervise the loading of the vehicle to ensure damage is minimised, that products are safely loaded, secured & vehicle weights are maximised & recorded accurately in line with the legally permitted load weight for the vehicle/trailer.
· Conduct a daily walk round check Inspection of the vehicle & record all defects accurately using the required method as specified by the company.
· Use of a driver defect App, Sat Nav unit & electronic POD.
· Pay close attention to wheel safety – actively monitor the condition of tyres, wheels, wheel nuts & studs, report any defect found immediately, ensure wheel torque process is adhered to at all times.
· Work Safely at all Times, in accordance with the law, highway code, environmental requirements & with adherence to all company procedures, standards, processes & policies.
· Complete all necessary records & ticket entries accurately to ensure the correct load weight is recorded & customer signature obtained for every collection & delivery made, return all completed tickets & paperwork handing them in to base, SRC weighbridge at the end of each day/week worked.
· Ensure all driver waste management duty of care standards, procedures & company responsibilities are adhered to at all times.
· Drive & reverse both the vehicle & trailer safely & courteously at all times; show respect for the safety of other road users, especially those considered vulnerable, minimise damage, report any incidents or accidents immediately to the Transport Manager.
· Operate a digital tachograph with adherence to the relevant legislation & regulations, demonstrate a clear understanding of tachograph & working time legislation.
· Keep the vehicle clean & serviceable both inside & out.
· Ensure contaminant from inside the vehicle/trailer body is removed as required.
· Ensure that on arrival the delivery location is safe & suitable, show respect to the customer’s property, prevent damage being caused through negligence; if in doubt, consult with both the customer and/or the Planner, Transport Manager before loading or unloading commences.
· Check the accuracy of all collected or delivered goods with the Customer, obtain a signature & print off the ticket. Make sure a manual record is made on the ticket should the load not match the description & detail, accordingly, consult with the Transport Manager or planner for authorisation before leaving site.
· Handle customer issues on delivery respectfully, tactfully & effectively. Contact the Transport Manager or planner for assistance if required.
· Drive economically in line with the company environmental, fuel & fleet efficiency policies, minimise harsh braking & cornering, maximise fuel efficient driving, ensure the most economical route is taken whilst adhering to restrictions, limits & legal prohibitions.
· Report all accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure, ensure all required information is captured at the scene & recorded on the Driver App/bump card supplied, ensure details are exchanged with any third party involved, liability must not be discussed.
· Ensure that the required PPE is worn & compliant with the current company standard.
· To act in accordance with the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental standards, driver handbook, policies, procedures and practices highlighting any issues appropriately.
· Participate & complete any relevant & required training & development courses & activities as specified by the company.
· Spend the night in the vehicle as required, ensure the vehicle is parked safely & securely where possible, report any vehicle or personal safety concerns or incidents immediately to the Transport Manager/Planner.
· Perform any other duty required by the company.
· Perform any other duty required in order to fulfil the role of a professional HGV driver.
