MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

The primary function of a Credit Controller is coordinating the debts of existing creditors and deciding whether to allow credit to a debtor. The Credit Controller will handle the collection of finances and the resolution of account queries, raising sales invoices and issuing credit notes.     

RELATIONSHIPS:

Responsible to:  Financial Director

Responsible for: None

Liaison with: Directors, Managers, Clients

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

MAIN TASKS OF JOB:

  • Dealing with invoicing queries in an effective and timely manner.
  • All Accounts receivable procedures such as banking and allocation.
  • Preparation of Debtor list
  • Monitor and evaluate Stop list
  • Reconcile accounts for the debtor ledger.
  • Full Credit control procedures such as chasing and legal letters.
  • Regular customer contact by phone and email
  • Keep a record of all communication with customer
  • Resolve all problems for customers, copy invoices, proof of delivery, credit notes and liaise internally to progress any problems that are handled in any department.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of the department and using discretion where necessary.
  • Ensuring good relations and communications with all members of the team and responding politely and in a timely fashion to internal and external customers.
  • Working with all members of staff to maintain and develop the positive progressive culture.
  • To comply with company health, safety and environmental policy, highlighting any issues appropriately.
  • To act in accordance with the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and practices.
  • To perform duties as directed by Manager

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Enthusiastic, committed and a fast learner with previous experience of a busy environment
  • Computer literate with an aptitude for numbers
  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping and accountancy procedures
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work with individuals across departments and liaise with external customers and contacts
  • Solid organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload
  • Hold or be studying towards a relevant accountancy qualification
