MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To operate HGV vehicle in a safe and professional manner, delivering products to customers and to provide excellent customer service. Relief cover for Drivers/Batchers, To provide support and information to HGV Drivers and Transport/Readymix Manager 

RELATIONSHIPS:

a) Responsible to: Readymix Manager

b) Responsible for: None

c) Liaison with: Directors, Managers, Employees, Clients, 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Daily Inspections to be carried out prior to driving.
• Ensure you have received your work schedule via electronic device or transport office.
• Supervise the loading of the vehicle so that products are safely encumbered and secure to minimise chances of damage.
• Ensure with Readymix Manager and Batcher that the load is correct against the customers’ orders.
• Ensure that on arrival the delivery is safe to execute and respect customer’s property; if in doubt, consult with customer and/or Readymix Manager, and use disclaimers if necessary.
• Check goods off with Customers and obtain signature and print. If any errors mark ticket accordingly and consult with Transport Manager or planner as appropriate.
• Handle customer issues on delivery effectively. Contact Readymix Manager or Batcher for assistance if required.
• Carry out deliveries in a timely and safe manner and provide excellent customer service.
• Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the law.
• Drive within the tachograph law and driver hours limits.
• Ensure condition of the vehicle and ensure that it is not subjected to unnecessary damage.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab.
• Comply with fuel directives from the Transport Department.
• Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure
• Full tyre management to include:
i. Organising the repairs and refits of tyres both pre and post shift
ii. Weekly tyre checks for damage and bulges
iii. Retorque tag collection and ensuring all tyres have been retorqued within 24 hours.
iv. Ensuring all documentation and tags have been submitted to Head office in a timely manner. 
• To provide necessary information to Drivers.
• To be point of contact for all Drivers and supervise any issues and complaints accordingly
• To provide support and guidance to trainee drivers
• To ensure trainee drivers are placed with a range of suitable competent drivers
• To make sure that the Tachograph Heads are downloaded on a monthly basis from all Drivers
• To ensure all Drivers Card are downloaded fortnightly.
• Ensure all Drivers understand any infringements and they are signed for. 
• To inspect any damage to HGV with Drivers and liaise with Transport Planner regarding repairs.
• Pre shift Inspections to include:
i. Ensure all Drivers carry out their daily checks thoroughly.
ii. Ensure any defects are recorded correctly.
• Post Shift inspections to include:
i. Ensure all HGV’s are cleaned
• Encourage efficiency of fuel management with all Drivers
• Ensure Drivers develop time management skills 
• Perform Tool Box talks as instructed and ensure drivers sign and date their acceptance.
• Ensure Company documentation is hand delivered to drivers.
• Monitoring of Drivers behaviour, attitude and work ethic and providing feedback to Readymix Manager for appraisal purposes
• To assist with programming together with batch schedule to ensure maximisation of all company resources and requirements. 
• To ensure all required maintenance duties are carried out. 
• To ensure batch hut and storage areas are clean and tidy.
• To liaise with the sales team to ensure all customer needs are met. 
• To ensure that all vehicles leaving the concrete plant are loaded with the correct product/volume/quality and have the appropriate documents. 
• To ensure all plant and other defects are reported correctly and timely. 
• To ensure all necessary production records are maintained to company standards. 
• To ensure BS EN206 BS 8500 quality standards are complied with. 
• To assist with any necessary duties on site as and when required. 
• PPE to worn around Plant and Site
• To comply with the company’s Factory Production Control Manual in support of SRC Quality Objectives
• To act in accordance with the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and practices highlighting any issues appropriately 
• Performs other duties as directed

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
• Enthusiastic, committed and a fast learner with previous experience of a busy environment.
• Must have Class 2 HGV Licence and Driver Qualification Card 
• Strong communication skills and willingness to take instruction.
• Ability to work with individuals across departments and liaise with external customers and contacts.
• Solid organisational skills with an ability to manage a number of tasks concurrently. 
• Effective telephone manner 
• Demonstrate a strong customer focus. 
• Ability to work flexibly on own initiative and as part of a team. 
• Ability to work to a high level of accuracy. 
• A willingness to undertake training as required.
